Just subscribed to your blog with a particular interest in your Sunday music sets. We're a small church working with volunteer musicians and singers. I love the mix of ancient/modern I see with some of your sets. Could you begin including the keys you use? Our musicians have no trouble playing in any key but choosing the one that works best with the most voices is sometimes difficult for me.
Thanks!
I have often thought that may be helpful, I will begin doing that. Thanks for reading. The ancient/modern is intentional. Glad you noticed.
Thanks, Jason. I appreciate it!
Hello again! I would have emailed you directly but couldn't find an "about me" with contact info, so I thought I'd go back to this post to ask a difficult question. Our small church, averaging around 50 in worship, welcomes everyone. We have a small praise band and vocalists and are able to project well in our small sanctuary. Our problem has arisen as a result of our welcoming atmosphere. A middle aged man who is developmentally disabled to a certain degree (but highly functional in some ways) has been coming the last few weeks. When he does, he sits up front and sings loudly - very loudly - so loudly in fact he causes the vocalists not to be able to hear themselves sing. Even our drummer heard him while he was playing! If that weren't bad enough, he is also off beat quite often and singing slower than everyone else. It's a problem we don't know quite how to approach.
What would you advise us to do?
